2012 Transparency Legislation
by Amy Oliver | 9:59 pm, January 22, 2012
Transparency is still an issue at the state capitol. Early in this 2012 legislative session, three bills could provide taxpayers with additional transparency in government.
HB12-1009 Federal Funds Transparency Act
House Sponsors: Cheri Gerou (R-HD 25)
Senate Sponsors: Kent Lambert (R-SD 9 )
This bill seeks additional information than is currently provided on how each department and agency of [...]
GEO needs a dose of sunshine!
by Amy Oliver | 9:06 pm, September 29, 2011
For years the Governor’s Energy Office has operated in the shadows. As an “off budget” agency, it has spent millions of dollars with virtually no transparency or accountability. A newly-released paper titled “Governor’s Energy Office Needs a Dose of Sunshine” from intern Kyle Huwa examines three years worth of GEO expenditures, a time period where [...]
Reality Over Hope – Three Jobs Saved
by Vande Krol | 8:39 am, September 12, 2011
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. Albert Einstein President Obama has explained his new stimulus program. Let’s see how the old one did. Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) reports that th…
The Food Stamp Panacea
by Jon Caldara | 1:42 pm, August 17, 2011
Remember Whitehouse press secretary Jay Carney and his ridiculous statement about paying the unemployed and how that “stimulated” the economy? Well, agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack tried to one-up Mr. Carney earlier today. Watch this video (and try not to roll your eyes. I dare you):
Ok, so now food stamps are the most direct way to [...]
Private Sector Jobs – Our Only Salvation
by Vande Krol | 5:19 pm, July 7, 2011
“I will not be satisfied until everyone who wants a good job that offers some security has a good job that offers security”. President Obama said that, speaking recently at an energy-efficient lighting plant.Whew. I feel better. And more secure. Wh…
GE, We Bring Bad Ideas To Light
by Joshua Sharf | 12:04 am, June 15, 2011
In a prior post, I mentioned that Obama’s favorite courtier CEO, Jeffrey Immelt, was part of a Jobs & Competitiveness Council, ostensibly tasked with finding ways to put Americans to work. It’s the kind of thing that government always says it’s doing, anyway. After all, we have a Commerce Department, a Labor Department, an Education [...]
I Don’t Know. The Administration Has Seemed Pretty Shovel-Ready To Me From Day 1.
by Joshua Sharf | 8:12 am, June 14, 2011
By now, you’ve probably seen this rueful admission by President Obama – evidently part of a longer comedy routine – that the stimulus didn’t actually do much the stimulate: Over at Powerline, Scott Johnson takes Obama to task for laughing at unemployment, and imagines Obama & Immelt as the new Hope & Crosby, and suggests [...]
What is a green job?
by Michael | 3:33 pm, March 16, 2011
Defining precisely what a so-called green job actually is and how many have been created in Colorado is perhaps the only job as hard as actually creating such emerald-hued employment— and a University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business survey due later this spring attempting to quantify the growth and qualify the nature of the [...]
We Could Start By Repealing ObamaCare
by Joshua Sharf | 8:21 pm, January 18, 2011
President Obama claims in this morning’s Wall Street Journal to want to reduce the regulatory burden on American business, and so has ordered a review: This order requires that federal agencies ensure that regulations protect our safety, health and environment while promoting economic growth. And it orders a government-wide review of the rules already on [...]

by Jon Caldara | 3:49 pm, December 21, 2010
Think the idea that unemployment benefits “stimulate” the economy is silly and dangerous? We do too. Therefore, we had to make fun it via Mothers Against Debt’s latest and greatest video. Please share with anyone you believe would enj…
