The rationalization goes something like this: because Sarah Palin showed her Down’s baby Trig onstage during the GOP convention, and displayed her family at various campaign appearances, she “politicized” them and thereby made her children fair game for all manner of cruel treatment by commentators, pundits, comedians, and bloggers.
