Mississippi Madness– The Presidential Candidates Debate
by Gateway Pundit | 6:57 pm, September 26, 2008
Here we go…
Obama- “We are fighing two wars.” Huh? The Messiah definitely seems a bit nervous and rushed.
McCain- Offers a prayer for Senator Kennedy. Classy. He says he feels better tonight about the work in Washington DC. We’ve finally seen Republicans and Democrats working together on a package. He gives a nod to House Republicans.
Obama- Looking flustered already. Nothing he’s said has resonated.
McCain- So far has a gentle wise tone in his delivery. McCain scores- says Obama has asked for $1 Million in pork per day since he’s been in the US Senate.
Obama- No answer- McCain gives tax breaks to the rich. Blah-blah-blah.
American Issues Project Responds to Obama’s Missouri Goon Squad
by Gateway Pundit | 6:21 pm, September 26, 2008
Missouri top prosecutors announced this week that they will prosecute critics of Barack Obama.
St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce and St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch are threatening to bring libel charges against those who speak out falsely against Barack Obama.
Michelle Malkin reported earlier that the American Issues Project responded today to Obama’s Missouri goon squads:
September 26, 2008 – Barack Obama is now using local law enforcement officials to carry out his campaign of legal intimidation by assembling a group of high-ranking Missouri police officials and prosecutors – including St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough and City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce – to identify and target anyone the campaign determines is producing “misleading” political advertisements.
“This is an outrageous and shocking attempt by the Obama campaign to again employ Stalinist, police state tactics against those who dare to disagree with Barack Obama,” said Ed Martin, American Issues Projects president. “I am frankly stunned to see public officials like McCullough and Joyce abusing their official prosecutorial positions to serve as attack dogs for a national political campaign. I am quite certain Missourians elected these individuals to enforce the laws and arrest criminals, not to throw people in jail for daring to practicing free speech.
“The Obama campaign continues to provide a chilling preview of what would happen to political freedom in an Obama administration.”
This new effort is only the most recent attempt by the Obama campaign to crack down on free speech. Obama’s lawyers twice demanded the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute the American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors. The campaign also threatened stations running American Issues Project’s ad in an unsuccessful attempt to compel them to pull the spot, and ran its own ad in response.
World Net Daily has more reaction to the goon squads.

To Barack Obama– Work Is Politics & Politics Is Work
by Gateway Pundit | 5:37 pm, September 26, 2008
Barack Obama September 2, 2008–
–Comparing his short resume to executive experience of Alaska Governor Palin Barack Obama explained that his politicking was his work experience.
**Politics Is Work**:
Hat Tip Amy Proctor
COOPER: And, Senator Obama, my final question — your — some of your Republican critics have said you don’t have the experience to handle a situation like this. They in fact have said that Governor Palin has more executive experience, as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state of Alaska.
What’s your response?
OBAMA: Well, you know, my understanding is, is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilli has, I think, 50 employees. We have got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.
So, I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute, I think, has been made clear over the last couple of years.
Barack Obama September 2, 2008–
After hearing John McCain was going back to Washington DC to do his job as US Senator Obama described it as a political stunt.
**Work Is Politics**:
So make no mistake: John McCain did not “suspend” his campaign. He just turned a national crisis into an occasion to promote his campaign. It’s become just another political stunt, aimed more at shoring up the Senator’s aimed more at shoring up the Senator’s political fortunes than the nation’s economy. And it does nothing to help advance this critical legislation to protect the American people during this time of economic crisis.

Surprise!… Obama’s Legal Career Consisted of Working For Scandal-Plagued ACORN
by Gateway Pundit | 5:08 pm, September 26, 2008
More Hope and Change…
Now we know what community organizers do…
They train ACORN workers and represented them in court, too.
It’s been a year and a half since Barack Obama announced his intention to run for president of the United States after serving 143 days in the US Senate.
Finally the Chicago Sun-Times reported on Barack Obama’s less than spectacular work experiences after law school.
Today we find out that not only did Obama train ACORN workers in his past, but he represented the scandal-plagued socialist organization in court:
In 1995, former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar refused to implement the federal “Motor Voter” law, which Republicans argued could invite fraud and which some Republicans feared could swell the ranks of Democratic voters.
The law mandated people be allowed to register to vote in government offices such as driver’s license renewal centers.
Obama sued on behalf of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The League of Women Voters and other public-interest groups joined in.
“He and his client were the ones who filed the original case — they blazed the trail,” said Paul Mollica, who represented the League.
Transcripts show that at court hearings, Obama identified himself, then let Mollica begin speaking. Maria Valdez of the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund sometimes spoke.
ACORN has a long, long history of voter fraud and scandal.
Obama also worked against banks who denied mortgage loans to minorities:
Obama represented Calvin Roberson in a 1994 lawsuit against Citibank, charging the bank systematically denied mortgages to African-American applicants and others from minority neighborhoods.
“I don’t recall him ever standing up and giving an impassioned speech — it was a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff,” said Fay Clayton, the lead lawyer on the case.
Don’t expect any of this to come up during the debate tonight.

Today’s NY Times Palin Smear Piece… Based On COMPLETE LIE
by Gateway Pundit | 4:55 pm, September 26, 2008
On its editorial page today The New York Times published a complete lie about Governor Sarah Palin from Alaska:
“Wasilla Watch: Sarah Palin and the Rape Kits”
The editorial attacks Sarah Palin for a complete fabrication (while it props up Joe Biden):
Even in tough budget times, there are lines that cannot be crossed. So I was startled by this tidbit reported recently by The Associated Press: When Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, the small town began billing sexual-assault victims for the cost of rape kits and forensic exams.
Ms. Palin owes voters an explanation. What was the thinking behind cutting the measly few thousand dollars needed to cover the yearly cost of swabs, specimen containers and medical tests? Whose dumb idea was it to make assault victims and their insurance companies pay instead? Unfortunately, her campaign is shielding the candidate from the press, so Americans may still be waiting for answers on Election Day.
The rape-kit controversy is a troubling matter. The insult to rape victims is obvious. So is the sexism inherent in singling them out to foot the bill for investigating their own case. And the main result of billing rape victims is to protect their attackers by discouraging women from reporting sexual assaults.
This is completely false.
** There is not one single record of the Wasilla police department charging any rape victim for an examination.
Not one.
The Finance Department searched all financial records on our system for fiscal year 2000, 2001 and 2002. There are no records of billings to or collections from rape victims or their insurance companies in our system. The financial computer system goes back to the beginning of fiscal year 2000, and accounts receivable backup documentation goes back six (6) years per our records retention schedule.
A review of files and case reports within the Wasilla Police Department has found no record of sexual assault victims being billed for forensic exams. State law AS 18.68.040, which was effective August 12, 2000, would have prohibited any such billings after that date.
Bob Owens discovered this and also reported that these rumors began at an obscure liberal blog written by a man in LA after Sarah Palin was chosen as the Republican VP candidate.
Are you really surprised?
You’d think with all of the liberal reporters shipped into Wasilla the NY Times would know this by now.
Evidently not.
Or, maybe they just don’t care?
At least the McCain-Palin campaign know what to expect from the Old Gray Lady’s “willful disregard of the truth.”
By the way… Joe Biden met with the Georgian leader today without the press and guess what?
-Not a peep from the liberal media.
IT’S ON!… War Hero Will Debate Chicago Politician Tonight!
by Gateway Pundit | 4:50 pm, September 26, 2008
COUNTRY FIRST.
America saw the difference this week between a man who puts his country first and a typical Chicago politician.
While John McCain was working for the nation, Barack Obama was working for himself.
We’re starting to see a pattern here.
Hero John McCain said he will attend the first Presidentional Debate tonight in Mississippi.
AP reported:
Republican John McCain agreed to attend the first presidential debate Friday night even though Congress doesn’t have a bailout deal, reversing an earlier decision to delay the event until Washington had taken action to address the crisis.
With less than 10 hours until the debate was scheduled to start, the McCain campaign announced that the Arizona senator would travel to the University of Mississippi. The campaign said that afterward McCain would return to Washington to continue working on the financial crisis.
The McCain-Palin Camp released a statement this morning:
…The difference between Barack Obama and John McCain was apparent during the White House meeting yesterday where Barack Obama’s priority was political posturing in his opening monologue defending the package as it stands. John McCain listened to all sides so he could help focus the debate on finding a bipartisan resolution that is in the interest of taxpayers and homeowners. The Democratic interests stood together in opposition to an agreement that would accommodate additional taxpayer protections.
Senator McCain has spent the morning talking to members of the Administration, members of the Senate, and members of the House. He is optimistic that there has been significant progress toward a bipartisan agreement now that there is a framework for all parties to be represented in negotiations, including Representative Blunt as a designated negotiator for House Republicans. The McCain campaign is resuming all activities and the Senator will travel to the debate this afternoon. Following the debate, he will return to Washington to ensure that all voices and interests are represented in the final agreement, especially those of taxpayers and homeowners.
Let’s hope he lets the “Cut and Runner” have it tonight at the debate on foreign policy!
Dick Morris sees McCain’s bold move as a brilliant move.

Bush Talks– Congress Balks– Paulson Stalks– Pelosi Gawks
by Gateway Pundit | 6:28 am, September 26, 2008
With the country in crisis– It’s politics as usual.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Secretary Paulson, and House Minority Leader John Boehner at a meeting in Washington. Yesterday, Paulson got down on one knee to beg Pelosi and the Democrats not to blow up the bailout legislation. (Katie Falkenberg/The Washington Times)
President George W. Bush gave this statement this morning on the ongoing talks on a rescue plan:
THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. My administration continues to work with the Congress on a rescue plan. And we need a rescue plan. This is — it’s hard work. Our proposal is a big proposal. And the reason it’s big and substantial is because we got a big problem.
We also need to move quickly. Now, anytime you have a plan this big, that is moving this quickly, that requires legislative approval, it creates challenges. Members want to be heard. They want to be able to express their opinions, and they should be allowed to express their opinions.
There are disagreements over aspects of the rescue plan, but there is no disagreement that something substantial must be done. The legislative process is sometimes not very pretty, but we are going to get a package passed. We will rise to the occasion. Republicans and Democrats will come together and pass a substantial rescue plan.
Thank you very much.
The president did not take any questions.
Meanwhile… Details were released on the meeting yesterday at the Capital.
The Politico reported on political breakdown:
At the White House, in fact, House Minority Leader John Boehner had bluntly warned about the lack of Republican support for the massive government intervention: “I can’t invent votes,” Boehner said. But House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) angrily accused the minority of trying to undercut Paulson by crafting a late-breaking alternative proposal—with the tacit support, Frank said, of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Both McCain and his Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama, would leave the White House without comment, and the meeting was described as among the wildest in memory. A beleaguered President Bush had to struggle to maintain order and reassert himself. And when Democrats left to caucus in the Roosevelt Room, Paulson pursued them, begging that they not “blow up” the legislation.
The former Goldman Sachs CEO even went down on one knee as if genuflecting, to which Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal.) is said to have joked, “I didn’t know you were Catholic.”
It was McCain who had urged Bush to call the White House meeting but Democrats made sure Obama had a prominent part. And much as they complained later of being blindsided, the whole event turned out to be something of an ambush on their part—aimed at McCain and House Republicans.
It figures.
With the country about to slide into economic freefall caused by democratic policies, the Dems plot a political ambush.
Oh, and should Nancy Pelosi really be cracking Catholic jokes?
**Financial Crisis Timeline** Dems Scoffed at Warnings– Schumer Singled Out (Video)
by Gateway Pundit | 5:55 am, September 26, 2008
Democrats Were Warned & Consistently Blocked Reform–
Way back in 2001 The Bush Administration raised red flags.
In 2008, Bush warned the Democratic majority 17 times that there was a looming crisis and that mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac needed reform.
In 2003, former Treasury Secretary John Snow testified before the House Financial Services Committee and said this:
SNOW: We need a strong world-class regulatory agency to oversee the prudential operations of the GSEs and the safety and the soundness of their financial activities.
In 2005- Senator John McCain partnered with three other Senate Republicans to reform the government’s involvement in lending.
Sadly, in every instance since 2001, Democrats either ignored or blocked any attempts at reform.
Even Bill Clinton admits it.
Yesterday, FOX News put together a timeline on the crisis and attempts at reform.
Senator Charles Schumer from New York was singled out for his defense of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac:
No wonder we’re not seeing the liberal media squawk about who’s to blame.

Figures. Media Ignores Biden’s Outright Lie About Iraq… Focus on Visiting African ‘Witchcraft” Pastor At Palin’s Church
by Gateway Pundit | 5:53 am, September 26, 2008
In October 2007, Senator Joe Biden introduced and sponsored Amendment 2997 in the US Senate.
It was an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 and its purpose was- “To express the sense of Congress on federalism in Iraq.”
MSNBC described Biden’s federalism bill:
In a strong rebuff to the Bush Administration on Iraq, the Senate overwhelming approved a plan by Biden that essentially calls for breaking Iraq into three sections: Kurd, Sunni, and Shia… The measure also calls on the five permanent members of the United Nations and members of the international community to convene a conference to help the Iraqis set up the federal regions.
The bill passed.
The Iraqis were furious. They protested in the streets and called a special meeting in parliament to reply to the U.S. Congress resolution on the division of Iraq into three Shiite, Kurdish and Sunni entities.
Now, Joe Biden is denying he ever pushed the federalism bill.
Sweetness and Light caught this outright lie by Senator Joe Biden earlier this week:
So what is the liberal media saying about this outright lie by Joe Biden?
–Nothing.
Instead they are focused on the visiting African pastor at Sarah Palin’s Church who blessed her and prayed over her asking God to keep her safe from witchcraft- a common practice in Africa.
There were at least 410 articles published this week on Palin and witchcraft.
MSNBC even tried to equate this event to the 20 years Barack Obama mentored with G-Damn AmeriKKKa Jeremiah Wright.
In response, Bill Donohue of the Catholic League lashed out the Palin bashers in the media and the Far Left.
This was so good that I am reprinting the article here.
The Catholic League reported:
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments today on news reports that an African minister once asked God to protect Sarah Palin from witchcraft:
“In 2005, Sarah Palin went to church and found that a visiting minister from Kenya, Bishop Thomas Muthee, was doing the service. He offered a prayer asking Jesus to keep her free from ‘every form of witchcraft.’ Palin said nothing—she simply kept her head bowed throughout the blessing. Why this is newsworthy is one issue, but why it has quickly become the subject of scorn is another.
“For the past two decades, Americans have been lectured by educators and the chattering class that we must respect cultural, religious, racial and ethnic diversity. It seems that exceptions to the creed of multiculturalism are only made when it suits the ideological agenda of the left. Enter Keith Olbermann: He exploited this incident last night as a club to paint Palin as an extremist. Moreover, he used this single blessing to unfavorably contrast the African minister to Barack Obama’s spiritual mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The MSNBC commentator incredibly said that Wright—who spewed hate speech before Obama for 20 years—‘seems pretty mainstream’ by comparison.
“Witchcraft is a sad reality in many parts of Africa, resulting in scores of deaths in Kenya over the past two decades. Bishop Muthee’s blessing, then, was simply a reflection of his cultural understanding of evil. While others are not obliged to accept his interpretation, all can be expected to respect it. More than that—Muthee should be hailed for asking God to shield Palin from harmful forces, however they may be manifested. And for this he is mocked and Palin ridiculed?
“We know that many cultural elites have a hard time embracing religion, but is it too much to ask that they at least show some manners when discussing subjects which most Americans hold dear?”
Well said.
Liberals just don’t get it.
