Considering the precarious position the country is in, it’s amazing that Congress looks like it’s going to do everything it can to put off into the future – punt, kick the can, whatever you choose – to avoid making any hard decisions today. I agree with Mark Twain.

Two things are apparent: few in Washington are serious about reining in government spending, and those who are are missing the point. It’s not making the government more efficient, it’s getting government out of where it doesn’t belong that is the real issue.

It’s clear what’s happening here. This is an admission that the Fed is under withering continuing attack and this is a feeble attempt to respond. The slide show is laughable.
