Bennet campaign goofs with KOA

by | 1:11 pm, October 27, 2010

Late in the morning, Oct 27, CompleteColorado.com linked to a Facebook posting from KOA’s morning show, “Colorado’s Morning News.”
The post showed “suggested questions” that had been sent by someone within the Bennet campaign to the show hosts prior to the Senator’s appearance on the show.  The hardball questions included:
Q. In what ways are you a [...]

Connect Four

Six percent.
One-in-sixteen.
That’s how likely you are to get four straight “heads” results on four straight coin flips.  Possible?  Yes.  Likely?  No.
But that’s what you’ve got from the Denver Post’s endorsement of appointed Senator Michael Bennet.  Four straight endorsements of Democrat senate nominees.  Another way to think about it, the Post has yet to endorse a [...]

Tancredo announcing his bureaucracy, clever campaigning

by | 12:20 pm, October 9, 2010

Friday, October 8, CompleteColorado.com linked to a quick blog post from Lynn Bartels of the Denver Post:  Tom Tancredo Announcing Appointments.  For most of the day, according to one of our statcounters, it was one of the most-clicked links on our site.
The blog post was accompanied by a cute picture of a chicklet amidst a [...]

When folks complain about liberal bias in the media, this is what they’re talking about

by | 1:35 pm, September 25, 2010

I’m no old sage of the journalism profession.  In fact, I’ve only been practicing my trade since 2004.  And I’ve seen ridiculous claims of media bias, both of bias of the left, and bias of the right.
But even I was a little shocked when I came across a September 23rd article in the Denver Post, [...]

Dan Maes perilously close to kicking himself out of debates

by | 10:09 am, September 14, 2010

A Rasmussen Poll today shows the following in the Colorado Governor’s race:  Hick 46%, Tancredo 25%, and Maes 21%.
What’s most interesting about these poll numbers is, Dan Maes recently made aggressive comments about how he should not be allowed to participate in major debates should his poll numbers dip below 20%.

The full enchilada can be watched here.  Or here’s a bit.ly link to send to friends: http://cs.pn/bOrNG6
I’m told it “gets good” at about the 48 minute mark.

Remembering 9-11 in a contemporary fashion

by | 6:48 pm, September 11, 2010

Kudos to Ch 7 KMGH for producing a story about the Westminster Public Safety Foundation, and their awards ceremony the other night.  The awards ceremony celebrates the bravery of Westminster police, firefighters and EMT’s, and even celebrates the heroic acts of everyday citizens.
It was after the 2001 attacks that the City of Westminster decided that [...]

Revoking Hick’s free pass

by | 7:42 pm, August 29, 2010

The Vince Carroll headline August 11, “Time to Yank Hickenlooper’s Free Pass,” was a clarion call to all Colorado media, if not Carroll’s own paper.  And since that time, the Denver Post’s Karen Crummy has authored two thoughtful, serious examinations of Mayor Hickenlooper.  Given Crummy’s groundbreaking work on the Cory Voorhis scandal, it’s little wonder [...]

RIP Rockin’ Reggie McDaniels

by | 4:43 pm, August 22, 2010

In my 3 year tenure at 850 KOA, I was blessed to have so many wonderful friendships, and to know so many wonderful people.  I don’t know if Reggie McDaniel would have called me a friend, but without a doubt, I’m better because I knew him.
My memories of Reggie will be of a man that [...]
