CU Regent Candidate Matt Arnold’s Poor Conduct Shouldn’t Go Unchallenged.

It’s not been a good campaign season for Matt Arnold. The unavoidable fact is, the Regent candidate’s woes are of his own creation.
His politicking amounts to a series of WTF moments, made worse by ‘apologies’ and ‘explanations’ that function as a what-not-to-do of campaign publicity. That anyone asking for an office of public trust and a hand in running the state would demonstrate such disastrous judgment and so consistently refuse to own his actions indicate to us that he has forfeited his credibility and any goodwill.
It is our company policy not to take sides in contested primary races, but we cannot help but note that Mr. Arnold’s recent comments and actions call into question his suitability for the office he seeks.
In particular, his ridicule of the value of advanced college degrees and his misrepresentation of the status of his own advanced degree are fundamentally incompatible with a position of oversight over the University of Colorado system.
Because Mr. Arnold is a former contributor to this website the board of PPC believes it is necessary at this time to publicly distance ourselves from Mr. Arnold and his behavior.
His recent comments and actions do not reflect well on Mr. Arnold’s character and integrity — we do not condone them, and they should not be seen as a reflection of the character and integrity of People’s Press Collective and its current contributors.
Mr. Arnold has pretended to have endorsements he never got, pretended to have a degree he never earned, and pretended that encouraging his remaining supporters to harass his primary opponent is acceptable.
We do not pretend this behavior is anything other than inappropriate.
Some of the more prominent figures in this state’s public life have publicly damned Mr. Arnold and his conduct with eloquence, leaving little to say. As the board of PPC, we second those voices.
