Conservatives consolidate majority in CU Student Government election sweep

Something must be in the water near Rocky Mountain National Park this year. In a stunning display of hard work, dedication, and the political tenability of conservatism, conservatives at the University of Colorado at the People’s Republic of Boulder swept almost every seat in the Student Government (CUSG) elections this week – solidly consolidating their majorities and proving that conservative principles really do work. The election, the third in a row to have conservative victories, saw record voter turnout, largely spurred by controversy which swirled over the principled leadership shown through the legislators’ cuts in both student fees and CUSG outlays.
“This was a difficult election to win because many of the fiscally conservative policies pushed for by the former student government administration (like cutting student fees 5%) had energized our opponents,” noted Gregory Carlson, outgoing Student Body Treasurer and chairman-designate for the Colorado Federation of College Republicans, in a press release.
The Student Government election results are staggering. Conservatives ran on the “INVEST” ticket and secured almost every seat up for grabs by sizable margins. Of the 25 positions that were open in positions contested by Invest and the leftist Propel and Edge tickets, a solid 23 were from Invest. Of the central CUSG executives and representatives at large, all five victorious slates were of Invest – including the Student Body President and Vice-Presidents, who run together.
I know from talking with Carlson on The Seng Center Radio Show Thursday night (to be posted soon) and from others involved in the CU student government that Invest worked extremely hard in this election. In doing so – and standing by their values every step of the way – this cadre of conservative leaders have proven that solid principles, not pandering, really can win the day – no matter how many oxes get gored by budget cuts.
“If the conservative message can resonate with young voters and lead to victory in Boulder, it can lead to victory anywhere. It just shows that with the right message, the right strategy, sticking to your principles and with enough hard work and teamwork, conservatives can win even in the most unlikely places,” Carlson, who was recently profiled in Vince Carroll’s Denver Post column focused on the conservative insurgency at Boulder, aptly said.
As I’ve said previously, in the year 2011, you need not look further than college campuses to find the conservatives of the 21st century leading the charge where it counts! Now if only Republicans in Washington – who caved in to Obama and Reid yesterday – and here in Colorado would start listening up and following the lead of the conservative students at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

We really have no choice! We ALL lose if the conservative values of : Personal Responsibility, Fiscas Responsibility, and following the U.S. Constitution don’t prevail.
These are the values that have made this country GREAT!
College students are inundated by socialist teachers who day after day preach the socialist agenda that government, or someone in charge knows how best to govern us.
Socialism doesn’t work, history has proved this over and over.
Our future is our young people. If our young people don’t keep our principals and values
in place, then we will fall, we will fail, and the greatest country in the world will be only a legend.
Good work CU conservatives, and God speed.
P.S. Conservatives have to stay away from the “social” issues. Freedom is just that. People should decide their own destiny, their own course, and no one should tell them otherwise.

This is a recipe for unchecked hedonism. What wise man rejects criticism?
License isn’t liberty.
