"Eat the Rich?" Unions, Tea Parties Stage Opposing Denver Rallies
by Ari Armstrong | 10:47 pm, February 22, 2011 | 5 Comments
Union supporters rallied in Denver February 22 to support unions under political pressure in Wisconsin; Tea Party groups counter-protested at the bottom of the capitol steps. I conducted a number of interviews from both sides. One dominant theme from the union side was that taxes should be higher, especially on the rich:
In the next video, union supporters call their opponents fascists and "tea baggers," all in the spirit of the "new civility," of course:
Next, union supporters chant "USA!" -- to a backdrop of the Soviet hammer and sickle and the Mexican flag:
The next video offers a sense of the competing signs and chants.
I also captured some substantive interviews with both sides that I will release in independent posts over the coming days, so check back.

I have never seen such vile, obnoxious behavior at a rally before, or ever in a gathering of people. There was a lady (one of the ones interviewed in the first clip; the one with the straw hat and maroon sweatshirt on) who several times shot both middle fingers in the air and then turned around and pulled her pants down! She did this at least two times that I saw. It didn’t even occur to me to turn her into the police for indecent exposure. There people were shouting expletives (with their children around). There were numerous times that they came down into the Tea Party crowd trying to start fights. I heard that right after I left (between 1:15 and 1:30) that some punches started to fly and that things got uglier. Wow! Is this BHO’s new world order of civility????

Katherine, I’ve been mooned at a protest before, unless the police see it they cannot/will not do anything.
I’m glad I managed to miss the mooning yesterday.
As for Obama, this is exactly what he and persons with his world-view hope for. This is the process of fundamental transformation.
