The outrage of high heels
by Amy Oliver | 5:03 pm, November 1, 2010
OK guys, here’s your chance to manufacture some outrage.
Women’s groups on the left have tried to paint GOP senatorial candidate Ken Buck as anti-woman. Unable to argue in favor of appointed Senator Michael Bennet’s stance on economic issues, women’s group have tried to make social issues the focus of this election. Keeping with that strategy, Women’s [...]

Why a 4-Point Ken Buck Victory is Likelier than a Looming “Recount”
by Ben DeGrow | 3:21 pm, November 1, 2010
So if the Denver Post insists that a “recount looms” in Colorado’s U.S. Senate race, why do I predict that Ken Buck will defeat appointed incumbent Michael Bennet by four points? What makes me so confident that my prognostication is more accurate than the hype? On The Spot blog, Post political editor Curtis Hubbard lists [...]
The worst possible outcome
by Rossputin | 1:21 pm, November 1, 2010
It occurs to me that there’s one potentially truly horrible outcome in this election:
If the GOP wins 9 seats in the Senate, giving them 50 seats, then every time there is a party-line vote, we’ll have to see Joe Biden again, breaking the tie in favor the socialists.
Just when we thought he and his brain cramps and his hair plugs (are those two related?) had been abandoned to the irrelevancy of the Vice-Presidency, a 50/50 Senate could cause him to yet again be the occasional center of attention.
But then look at the bright side: people will be reminded that Barack Obama chose Joe Biden as his VP…

Final Gallup poll before the election suggets massive GOP gains
by Rossputin | 1:15 pm, November 1, 2010
In the last USA Today/Gallup poll before the election, results show record or near-record levels of certain key measures, including:
- Republican lead among likely voters (15%)
- Certainty among Republicans (and GOP-leaning independent) versus Dems (and Dem-leaning independent) of voting in this election (7%)
- Lead among GOP and GOP-leaning among those who have given “some” or “quite a lot of” thought to the election (14%)
- Record or near-record disapproval of Congress and “the way things are going” in the country. (21%, 22%)
These results have Gallup, no conservative organization, suggesting “that the Republicans could gain anywhere from 60 seats on up, with gains well beyond that possible.”
Keep in mind, for those who might be inclined to be sad if the GOP doesn’t take the majority in the Senate, that even with 48 or 49 seats in GOP hands, the Dems won’t get any bad legislation passed. And, the GOP can stop them regardless of what Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins want to do.
If the GOP gets 50 seats, the pressure on Ben Nelson to switch parties will be intense…although I don’t think he will do so unless he’s willing to vote to repeal Obamacare. Some thing Lieberman will be pressured to switch, but we must remember that other than regarding the “war on terror”, Lieberman is absolutely liberal.

Democrats drive their metaphor into a ditch of Slurpees and ball caps
by Kelly Maher | 12:43 pm, November 1, 2010
In this video, I mashed up some of U.S. Sen Mark Udall’s remarks at an event for U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet – with those of President Obama in Pennsylvania in September. When I got done putting this video together, I clung to my Slurpee and my ballcap.

Do Teachers Like Their Hard-Earned Money Being Spent on Political Lies?
by Eddie | 10:01 am, November 1, 2010
Have I mentioned how glad — how really, really glad — I am that the elections are almost over? Just when little old me thinks I’m done writing about topics related to the election, I find a story like this one at Face The State about a highly deceitful group’s campaign flier:
Accountability for Colorado, which [...]
Open Letter to Tom Tancredo
by Ari Armstrong | 9:40 am, November 1, 2010
Dear Mr. Tancredo,While it still seems unlikely that you will overtake John Hickenlooper in the governor’s race, especially given that Dan Maes likely will pick up a few percent of Republican voters, you’ve done surprisingly well in the polls and creat…
