Vote your conscience.

by | 6:49 am, September 7, 2010 | 2 Comments

Barring a miracle just short of a virgin birth, John Hickenlooper will be the next governor of Colorado. You do not have to be concerned with your vote "spoiling" the election and "throwing" it to a progressive Democrat. The GOP has already taken care of that.

Republican nominee Dan Maes’ problems are well-documented. He has been abandoned by the GOP. Beauprez, Brown, Andrews and Wadhams made it official.

Tom Tancredo abandoned the GOP, the party that elected him U.S. Congressman, and joined something called the “American Constitution Party” so he could either force Maes out or ensure his defeat. He did not accomplish the former. He has accomplished the latter.

If either Maes or Tancredo satisfy you, by all means, vote for him. If neither do, you are free to vote your conscience. If you believe in small government - both economically and socially – vote for Libertarian candidate for governor, Jaimes Brown.

Vote your conscience. What a radical notion.

Agree. 100% I wondered why I never have a primary or general election candidate. Okay, Jimmy Carter, but I was young and the drugs were good.

    I’d rather vote specifics, Dave.

Instead of another long recitation of why the three big-name candidates all suck, how about giving us some reasons to vote for Jaimes Brown? Waiting to even mention your candidate’s name until the very end of the penultimate sentence of your post suggests you aren’t as enthusiastic about him as you are about bashing the other candidates and their parties.

Pointing out how bad Hickenlooper, Maes, and Tancredo are, and then merely reminding us that there is a Libertarian candidate in the race, comes awfully close to the kind of “lesser evil” argument you frequently rail against.

If you truly believe Jaimes Brown deserves my vote — because of his policy positions, not simply because he’s got an “L” by his name — then show me why. Convince me with specifics…pretty generalities about principle and lofty appeals to conscience aren’t enough.
