The race to unendorse Dan Maes
by Rossputin | 2:23 pm, September 3, 2010 | 8 Comments
UPDATED as of 2 PM Friday, 3 hours before Maes can “do the right thing” or all but ensure we live through at least one term of Governor Hickenlooper.
This probably won’t last long, one way or another, but just for fun let’s keep a running track of those calling for Dan Maes to get out of the race, particularly those who had endorsed him before. I’ll update the list as more people join the chorus:

It’s awfully easy to accuse the BLS of fudging the numbers for political purposes, especially since an improving economy is likely to improve Obama’s chances for a second term. But honesty requires that we look more closely at those numbers.

Funny, I thought the Republican party didn’t eat their own. And even though I reserve the right to call Maes a idiot but the party leadership has awarded themselves the high level of “Executive incompetence” Primary voters split the party for good damn reason.
So, I should be impressed by Brown, Beauprez, Coors and Andrews, how? Ohu, is there some sort of master political strategy in play? Sure, Maes has bullshitted his way throughout but at one point he was behind a message that resonated. He reminds me of that last kid sitting alone on the steps of the schoolhouse at the end of the day. I digress, lets talk about policy, integrity, economics, solvent sovereignty of Colorado and Republican platform principles. Really? Isn’t kind of late. Your kid is setting on the school steps and you have your noses up each others asses. Maes is stilla’ idiot but he has shown me that as a citizen one really can make a difference.

You can add Shawn Mitchell to that list

Clarence, you’ve nailed it! There is political treachery happening. This is precisely what Bill Owens and his friends did to Bob Schaffer. They had Coors waiting in the wings the whole time.
Note which establishment ones are being very quiet?

The “Gods of the GOP” have spoken! It is almost as if it has been a perfect plan. “They” do not want Maes to be on the ticket. For months they’ve been after him to get out of the race, and they still are, even though, he won at the convention. Now all of this nitpicking… Maes is not perfect, no one is. Oh, and I don’t think Beauprez ever formally endorsed him, so how can he take back his endorsement? And isn’t Beauprez one of the “rumored’ replacements??? When on Kaplis and Silverman someone mentioned that no one could jump in and put together an organization, etc. etc., Kaplis said that everything is in place for the next person, staffing, etc. Isn’t that interesting. They’re just waiting for “one of their own” to get on the ballot. Friend of mind who is in contact with the Palin people said that Sarah had the same “stuff” happen when she was running for governor. And Maes is still way ahead of TT in the polls and just a little behind Hick. If the GOP would stop bashing him and support him, Maes could definitely beat Hickenlooper. Oh, people wake up!

Anyone have the list of members for the vacancy committee? It was elected at the convention right?
September 3rd, 2010 @ 3:11 pm
Wilkes,
I thought it was the same as the GOP’s state executive committee. But I’m not an expert.
Anybody know for sure?

You are correct Ross – we approved that slate at the assembly. I do not have the list of the members though. I assume it includes the state officers that are list at the state party website and some others.
Precisely who all that is though, I’m not clear on.
