Betsy Markey – The Bailout Queen

Earlier this year Tom Buchanan, chair of Loveland 9-12 Project, invites Besty Markey to speak to his members

Fourth Congressional District Representative Betsy Markey has released her first TV ad in which she states: “Bailouts really offend me” followed later by “Bailout is just another word for cop-out, and here in Colorado that’s not how we do business”.

Lesley Hollywood, director of the Northern Colorado Tea Party, tracked down a Markey staffer at a Windsor based senior community meeting in hopes of getting some questions answered – primarily how Markey reconciles her voting record with the statements made in her latest TV ad.

Simply because Congresswoman Markey’s voting record tells us otherwise.

Markey was not in congress at the time of TARP or the first auto bailouts, but since her time in office she has supported nearly every bill that has taken our country towards corporatism.

Here are just some of her big spending ”yes” votes:

  • HR3590 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act -  Nationalized healthcare which mandates massive taxpayer funded “transfers of money” to government agencies and private health insurance corporations.

  • HR4173 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act – An open-ended bailout to financial institutions deemed “too big to fail” by the federal government.  This bill also gave Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac a free pass to avoid any possible reform that may have been enforced under this legislation.

Need more proof that Congresswoman Betsy Markey thinks Coloradans of the 4th Congressional District can be easily snowed?  Well, just start digging.  This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Betsy Markey is being challenged by Republican Cory Gardner in Colorado’s CD4.
