Terrence Carrol calls on Scott McInnis to drop out of gubernatorial contest; Dan Maes must go, too
by Donald E. L. Johnson | 1:38 pm, July 13, 2010 | 9 Comments
Democrat Colorado House Speaker Terrence Carrol has joined my call on Scott McInnis to drop out of the gubernatorial race, according to Curtis Hubbard. I also think Dan Maes should drop out and give the Republicans a chance to give a credible candidate a chance to take on Obama Democrat Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. Maes still doesn't get it. He's blaming his incompetence on political foes. Sorry, but if you can't hire and keep competent staff, you have no business running for governor. Some scenarios: McInnis announces that he will stay in the race until after the primary. If he wins the primary, he'll drop out and allow GOP leaders to name another candidate. McInnis drops out now, Maes wins the primary and loses the general election, taking down legislatative and other down ticket Republicans with him. McInnis stays in the race, wins the primary, loses the general election to Hickenlooper 60% to 40% or worse. McInnis stays in the race, loses the primary to Maes 51% to 49%. Maes loses to Hickenlooper 65% to 35% or worse. If McInnis and Maes stay in the race, it will be very clear that McInnis and Maes are in this political contest for themselves, not for Colorado or for the GOP. And that is what is so infuriating. “Maes still doesn’t get it. He’s blaming his incompetence on political foes.” Actually, this morning Dan Maes accepted full responsibilty for the errors and explained what happened in detail on KVOR in the Springs.

You seem to think Hickenlooper is pure as the driven snow. He’s got the luxury of laying low during the primary process. Once the Republican candidate is chosen, we’ll see just how many issues Hickenlooper has to overcome.
You forgot the most likely scenario. Maes wins the primary, and defeats Hickenlooper in the election.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty? McInnis is a fighter for this state & won’t drop out. Only guilty action was McInnis put his faith and trust in someone that had a long standing reputable career. It’s very frustrating how quickly everyone moves to push people off the cliff…..there are going to be lots of people feeling stupid when they hear the long remorseful apology from the party responsible for the plagiarism. Any executive or business owner faces this same problem every single day…we hire & pray that they have our best interest at heart. Let those that have NEVER been “taken” be the first to judge!!

Hick has too much baggage- hiring illegals. Maes can beat him easily. he has the heart of the unaffliated and even some dems. The GOP better get behind the conservative candidate!

Well, if Terrence Carrol says so then I suppose he’ll just have to go…
Give me a break, Donald. Hickenlooper is fortunate to have the mainstream media to cover his baggage. Unfortunately McInnis has to stand up and fight against a Democrat and the media. Fortunately, Scott has the support of Coloradans, yourself excluded, who want to see our state vibrant, strong, and conservative again. That will ultimately win the race, no matter how much mud Pat Waak and Dean Singleton plan to sling.

Interesting: 3 of 5 comments have dealt with Hickenlooper, and 0 of 5 mention the subject of the article, Scott McInnis.
I believe McInnis is done as an electable pol. There are so many ways this plagiarism can be exploited by oppo. Start with his willing employment by a Muslim foundation. A sizeable, vocal fraction will have issues with that. Move on to the conditions of employment cited by Seeme Hasan that specified the work was to be McInnis’ and his alone. McInnis knowingly violated that contract in hiring a researcher, and accepting about $2,000 per plagiarized page raises the spectre of fraud. The damage control challenge Sean Duffy faces is formidable.
The GOP is a party trying to recollect itself and regain power. It can scarce afford to defend an admitted plagiarist at the same time Dan Maes is coping with an embarrassing management failure. If for no other reason than the good of the party, McInnis must withdraw from the race.

McInnis goes home to Grand Junction. His plagarism is a serious breach of integrity. Dan Maes had 9 clerical errors of the occupations of the donators incorrectly entered, along with having an in-kind contribution that was listed as corporate when it was actually a personal donation. So why, should he drop out? Dan Maes and HIckenlooper? Maes wins…..and then all Colorado wins.

Let’s look at the facts. First: Scott McInnis was hired to do a job and he agrred to do the job and received $300,000.00 for the job. He submitted a written letter and invoicing indicating that the work was indeed his own. He is a registered and practicing attorney. This rises hirer than most people would think. What about the Code of Conduct for Attorneys? Where is the Colorado Bar Association at on this? Plagarism is one thing, and fraud is another. This is a clear violation of the Code of Conduct and should be investigated. Then there is the Washington Law firm he works for and his 12 years in Congress. Establishment all the way.
The fines paid by Dan Maes were for Civil Penalties for imporper reporting. Notice that he did not attempt to deceive or fail to report accordingly. I imagine that if he had appealed this action in the courts it would have either been greatly reduced or dismissed entirely. I wonder if there are other Republicans that have flown under the radar. For example, a certain current state Senator failed to list his Name and Organization information on a filing for a state Representative candidate. Why? Because it is illegal to exchange funds between candidates and campaigns. No one has ever said a thing.
One need only closley scrutinize the name, and or P.O. Box addreses to find out who the owners are and determine that information is missing.
Hickenlooper is going to lose in the worst way posible. First: He had eight (8) illegals working for him. Second: He supports sanctuary cities (a violation of the Federal Immigration Laws), and well there is just way to much to add at one time.

In CO GOP Guv primary race, McInnis blows a tire…
The “TEA Party Darling” for Colorado Governor, Dan Maes, was handed an engraved invitation to the GOP nomination with yesterday’s revelation that his much better funded establishment rival, Scott McInnis, collected a six-figure payday for unoriginal…
