Has Erick Erickson destroyed RedState’s credibility? I think so

Byron York correctly asserts that conservative blogger Erick Erickson, who is backing Colorado's Ken Buck for the GOP's U.S. Senate nomination, has destroyed his credibility as a blogger and pundit by making up a rumor about a GOP candidate and her accuser in South Carolina. Erickson wrote on his RedState blog that he knew who paid a blogger to charge a Republican candidate with adultry, and then he admitted that he made up the story. York concludes: Why write something he knew wasn’t true? “With apologies to RedState readers,” Erickson wrote, “I’ve had no hesitation in stringing the media along like Folks has done.” Apparently Erickson’s intent was to call attention to Folks’ nasty tactics and the likelihood that Folks is attacking Haley on behalf of some other player in the South Carolina political world. But sacrificing your own credibility in an effort to undermine someone else’s is not a good idea, and what Erickson has done has surely hurt both his own reputation and that of his website I've never been an Erickson or Red State fan, and I never will be.Category:

Credibility is hardly earned anymore, it’s bestowed. How else to explain the success of the Breitbart model. Redstate will undoubtedly survive.

Ha ha ha ha! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The question should be, “has Donald Johnson destroyed PPC’s credibility?”, one I’ve been wanting to ask for a while now. Erick Erickson’s wit is obviously above your level of comprehension. The fact that you have never liked Erik Erickson or redstate, one of the foremost right wing blogs, leads me to question more than your credibility. I wonder if you are really a Republican. You’re certainly not a conservative, and I keep trying to figure out why PPC invited you to blog. Even apart from ideology, your ramblings don’t have a shred of journalistic credibility. And why was this article posted twice?

Diversity of views, Brian. I don’t agree with a lot of what Don says, either, for what it’s worth.

Brian,
How can you feel bad by Obama’s lack of integrity and common sense and good about Erick Erickson’s lack of intellectual integrity or common sense?
If you disagree with York and me on this, please explain why. I really want to know.

Don:
Someone who doesn’t believe Jane Norton is the DC insider in the race and who wonders why Buck only got 77% of the vote is questioning someone else’s credibility? If your post was about Redstate, you would not have mentioned Buck. Your post is just another pathetic attempt to help McJain. At least you are a little more subtle than Sarah Penry.

Harry,
Jane Norton is no more a DC insider than Buck is, and it doesn’t mean beans to voters.
If you think asking questions ruins my credibility, that’s ok. You’re entitled to your opinion.
Erickson hardly knows Buck and endorsed him. He makes things up to make a point. In both ways, he’s shown his immaturity and lack of intellectual integrity, imho.
I know it doesn’t serve your purposes to believe this, but I am not backing anyone in the GOP primaries for Senator or Governor. I’ve criticized all four candidates for endorsing the personhood initiative, for example. And I’ve worried about the poor fundraising of the Colorado Republicans compared with their peers in other states. If you can’t stand opinions that don’t reinforce yours, you shouldn’t be reading the media or blogs.

Don:
If I couldn’t stomach reading things I disagreed with I would not read your postings.
I enjoy Erickson and RedState. I also agree with you on the personhood amendment. It just seems to me that you go out of your way to make negative stuff up about Buck and ignore things that are negative as it relates to Norton. That is my observation and it impacts how I view your credibility.
BTW I spend an equal amout of time on Colopols so any notion that I can’t stand opinions that don’t reinforce mine is somewhat humorous.
