Matt Arnold’s ‘Clear the Bench’ message warmly received by Arapahoe County Republicans

Wireless microphones were worthless in most Republicans' hands in the Englewood High School gym Saturday. Some candidates who spoke to the Arapahoe County Republicans' Assembly figured out how to make the troublesome wireless technology work, several stumbled through presentations using the mikes. And a few others abandoned the mikes and shouted. Matt Arnold, a retired Army captain, quickly dropped the mike and shouted his Clear the Bench Colorado spiel. And the crowd heard him and loved it. Activist Republicans are picking up on Arnold's campaign against retaining four members who are up for retention votes next November. Whether independents are as angry with the judges remains to be seen. And even if the judges are dumped, Governor Bill Ritter might be able to replace them before leaving office. That seems to be a debatable point.Comments

A couple of minor corrections:
1. Matt Arnold is not a “retired” Army Captain, but continues to serve (Army National Guard)
2. After observing the technical glitches encountered by other speakers, Matt bypassed using the mike entirely (not “dropping” it)
3. Matt didn’t shout – he used his “command voice” to project out into the audience.
The gist of the report is very accurate, though – the response was hugely positive.
As for “whether independents are as angry with the judges” – they’re plenty angry with the policies “aided and abetted” by the 4 Colorado Supreme Court justices on the ballot, including:
- unconstitutional property tax increases
- the “Dirty Dozen” tax increases (and coming soon: the “Horrible Hundred” tax increases sequel)
- the Colorado Car Tax (er, “vehicle registration fee”) increases
- expanded eminent domain abuse
- letting a convicted kidnapper/rapist/murderer escape the death penalty on a technicality
and a host of other issues.
If they’re not (yet!) angry, it’s just because they haven’t (yet!) connected the dots…
Visit the Clear The Bench Colorado website (http://www.clearthebenchcolorado.org) for information on these and other reasons to vote “NO” on these unjust justices ask for re-election.
