PPC is proud to launch a new project. Political Breath will offer hints on etiquette in activism. For every misspelled sign, for every opportunity to change someone’s mind that fell apart into a screaming match, for every rambling conspiracy-mongering boor who sucked up hours of your life at a cocktail party, the well-dressed, soft-spoken solution is at hand.
Our resident Potomac Rat, Eileen, and Julian, who courageously wades through all the legal messes we cook up, are undertaking this stupendous new crusade for manners. We somewhat had to. The rest of the Board threatened to make us into a living sacrifice to Milton Friedman’s ghost if we didn’t write more.
Political Breath will provide helpful pointers, real-world do’s, don’ts, and definitely, definitely don’ts, and, of course, pretty pictures. We’ll share thought on how to keep calm and carry on, how to be a better speaker and a better debater, how to make succinct points, excel at interviews, and write hard-hitting and witty pieces. We’ll have thoughts on countering the other side’s worst manners and on winning arguments. We’ll offer up resources for going into battle and for correcting mistakes.
