Dan Maes will report that in the first quarter he raised about $50,000 from 500 new contributors, he told me in a brief interview at this morning's Arapahoe County Republican Men's Club luncheon. He raised $10,000 in the fourth quarter of 2009.Comments

Too bad he doesn’t even realize the first quarter filing isn’t due until May 3 and goes through April 25. Stupid mistakes like this show he really isn’t a qualified candidate. Nice guy but unqualified.

Why is this a stupid mistake? Dan is letting people know what he has raised in the 1st qtr which since most seem to focus on the money he is being open and transparent.
True he does not have to file his finance report until May 3rd but there is no rule saying he can’t let people know how he did for a calendar quarter.
The fact that he is so open and transparent about his finances is a good thing.
It is Donald who asked Dan the ? of how much raised for the 1st quarter so it seems you may be jumping to conclusions as to that Dan thinks he needs to file his finance report.

I asked Dan how much he raised in the first quarter. He graciously told me and seemed very happy with the results.
Dan’s very approachable and often answers questions from the press and bloggers even though he has good reasons to not like everything we write about his campaign. Wish all of the candidates did that.
Don’t be surprised if Scott McInnis announces his fundraising numbers well before the deadline, especially if they show growing momentum in his fundraising.

Don,
Thanks for stepping up with positive comments. Michele’s arrogance aught to be tempered with an apology. You said it correctly, we know that reports aren’t due for a while but many are interested in the traditional quarterly numbers. I wonder if my opponents raised their previous numbers by 200%?

I appreciate Dan’s openness and lack of political BS that gives the people allot of feel good hot air and too little of the truth. Dan, thanks for talking to me like an average person and not like I’m a gullible idiot:)
