Dan Maes says big contributors haven’t stepped up yet; he has 500 new contributors

Dan Maes, a Republican candidate for governor of Colorado, said in a comment posted on this blog, that he has over 500 new contributors this quarter, but the biggest contributors and political action committees have yet to contribute to him or his opponent, Scott McInnis. Of course, he doesn't know whether those conntributors have been giving to McInnis. That information won't be available until early next month. In his comment, Maes wrote: You are all still missing the biggest fact of 2010 regarding unaffiliated voters.  Old timers still think they are in the middle like 2008.  They are no longer there.  They are there (or indifferent) socially, but fiscally and constitutionally they are as far right if not further than I am.  They will not hold their noses for a center/right candidate.  I know, I have spent 12 months with many of them. Second,  most of the big money is still on the sidelines.  No PACS have given yet nor the tradtional big money republicans.  They are waiting and seeing.  We have over 500 new contributors this quarter.  Ever heard of Scott Brown?

If those contributors were serious about Dan Maes, they would have contributed already. My bet is they saw the writing on the wall and put their support behind Scott McInnis. He is the one they know will be the next Governor.
