Top 10 Reasons Why Both Parties Are in Tea Party Hot Water — #7

This is Day 4 of a 10-part installment.

7. Women are the Tea Party Super Majority.

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
Is The Hand That Rules The World

Blessings on the hand of women!
Angels guard its strength and grace,
In the palace, cottage, hovel,
Oh, no matter where the place;
Would that never storms assailed it,
Rainbows ever gently curled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

Infancy’s the tender fountain,
Power may with beauty flow,
Mother’s first to guide the streamlets,
From them souls unresting grow–
Grow on for the good or evil,
Sunshine streamed or evil hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world
.

William Ross Wallace – 1865

Glenn Beck began noticing that he was receiving increasingly more calls from women to his radio show during the spring and summer of 2009.  He then aired a special on Fox News Channel with mothers of America who are working to take back our country  on 9/28/09.  The As a Mom national group spun off of The 9.12 Project and formed the “Sisterhood of Mommy Patriots” a few days after the special.  This sisterhood has blossomed to ~59,600 (including over 1200 Colorado Moms) in a little over 4 months.

From my observations over the last 10 months, about 60% of the active members in Colorado Tea Party and 9.12 Project groups are women.  They include home school moms, business owners, working moms, retired grandmothers, teachers, nurses, attorneys, IT specialists, great grandmothers, you name it we got it.

R Block Party is another grassroots group in Colorado formed by women in November of 2008.  So this surge of conservative women activists has been brewing and finally burst forth with the Tea Party torrent in 2009.

Since we are fighting to save America more for our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren than for ourselves, we are like momma grizzly bears protecting our cubs.  But, we are not part of this movement for “women’s issues.”  We are fighting for American and free market principles and solutions to the serious problems we face as a nation.  We are working to restore America for our children and all future generations. As Dr. Frank Luntz describes us mommy patriots, “…their children come before politics. Their children come before ideology so that they are pure in standing up and saying, ‘I don’t like what’s happening in Washington.’”

 In the 9/28/09 special, mothers’ three major concerns were:

  1. Accurate history not being taught to children in school
  2. Parents losing rights
  3. Government killing our children’s future

These concerns are discussed in depth on A Mother’s Challenge
Part I: Mother Knows Best
Part II: Common Cause

The political elite and power players do not know what to make of us Tea Party women or how to deal with us, but that is too bad because we are on a mission.  We are hoping it bothers the ones in DC whenever they see As A Mom T-shirts displaying a picture of the US Capitol Building and the words, “Don’t Make Me Come Up There!” We also really throw the opposition protesters for a loop – how do you justify figuratively or literally beating up on grandmas and moms with children in tow?  It just does not look good, especially in front of cameras.

But, this time sensitivity and diversity classes are not going to help the politicians with the millions of women on a mission to restore American principles and values in all levels of government.  Trying to “sweet talk” or placate us is not going to work either.  They need to truly listen to us and amend their ways or get out of ours.  Ignoring us, dismissing us, and belittling us is only going to rile up these momma grizzly bears even more.  Just ask our spouses and/or Tea Party brothers who have to put up with us regularly.

Monday we will take a look at reason #6 in our countdown of the Top 10 Reasons Why Both Parties Are in Tea Party Hot Water.  So over the weekend, relax, recharge, spend time with your Valentine in preparation for another week of holding our elected officials feet to the fire.

    The choice of this poem and article both speak to me. My husband was a martial arts teacher, and had the same observation – even in an area where women are physically “inferior” and not prone to agrgression in this way, he said the mama bears were were fearsome fighters. We have a (hopefully) bloodless war to fight, and are up tot he task not because we are well equipped, but because we see grave harm to those we love so dearly.

    C’mon, let’s face a few fact, the Tea Party movement is essentially disaffected Republicans who demand less government, less taxing and less spending while at the same time demanding that politicians do more about the stuff they don’t like (which requires more government, more spending, and eventually higher taxes). It is fine to be disaffected, angry and motivated, but pleas don’t claim to be anything other than Big Government Republicans posing as a non-partisan movement.
