Andrew Romanoff Consultant Pat Caddell Tells Truth about Unions and Environmentalists, Gets Canned

Speaking truth to union and environmentalist power and thuggery, Dem consultant Pat Caddell quickly drew the ire of lefty bloggers and was ultimately sacked by the Andrew Romanoff campaign (Romanoff is primarying the appointed Sen. Michael Bennet):

While Caddell was an unpaid consultant, his firing comes roughly two weeks after the Romanoff campaign bulked up its staff and touted the upgrade as a significant addition in their fight against “special interests and corporate power.”

In his reference to the Service Employees International Union, Caddell targeted President Andy Stern. “He said, ‘we believe in the power of persuasion, and if that doesn’t work, we believe in the persuasion of power.’ Now if you don’t know what that phrase means, and how they’re using this, then you don’t understand how exactly dangerous this all is. Because those guys are thugs, the SEIU,” Caddell says.

The veteran strategist also questions the mission of public employee unions. “I don’t understand what they’re doing. I mean, who are they protecting us from, the taxpayers?” Caddell asks.

Caddell offers an even more harsh assessment of environmentalists. “The whole idea of the environmental movement isn’t to clean up the environment, or to do what we need to do or to get jobs,” he said. “It is to basically deconstruct capitalism.”

The video evidence (from an appearance with David Horowitz) of Caddell’s charges against environmentalists comes right at the beginning, with the quote concerning Andy Stern at around the 3:45 mark:

An honest Democrat just got canned for telling the truth about union thuggery and environmentalist extremism. The full flower of progressive tolerance on display folks. And Democrats accuse Republicans of being beholden to special interests–wait, hypocrisy means nothing to the left. Move along.

Romanoff and Bennet faced-off last night at a debate in Denver.

    So, it is not like Caddell’s comments were a secret. Instead, it is more like Romanoff is uninformed, out-of-touch, in a bubble, and that characteristic does not a good representative make.

    And Bennett is no better, seeking within the last few days reconciliation to get a ‘public option’ that the majority of us do not want.
