**Update 4–Lynn Bartels at the Post appears to confirm the insider mumblings heard Monday evening about Ryan Frazier’s “announcement”:
Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier will drop out of the crowded GOP race for the U.S. Senate and instead challenge U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, The Denver Post has learned.
Frazier expects to make the announcement as early as Wednesday, campaign organizers said.
Frazier couldn’t be reached for comment Monday night. But in a Twitter post, he said that he would make “a big announcement this week.”
His entry into the 7th Congressional District race would turn what is currently seen as a lock for Perlmutter, a two-term Democrat from Golden, into a competitive race.
**Update 3–Ari Armstrong expands on the CD7 angle.
**Update 2–Ben DeGrow has more analysis.
**Update–rumors are flying fast and furious but nothing is confirmed as of Monday evening. Be sure to check PPC for all of the latest and up-to-date developments.
