Jane Norton: Encouraged to Run by John McCain

From today’s Caplis and Silverman Show on KHOW (audio link):

HOST:  My question, again, is did Senator McCain ask you to run for Senator from Colorado?

JANE NORTON:   I did have a conversation with Senator McCain, um, when I was going through, counting the cost, what it would, y’know, what it would take.  Listen, this is a huge, this is a huge undertaking, obviously. Um. It impacts your family, it impacts your professional, uh, livelihood and all those kinds of things. So, Senator McCain did call me and encourage me to run, but he was not the reason that I decided to run, but I was honored to support him as my party’s, um, nominee for President.

Great. Not only do we have the NRSC meddling in Colorado’s Senate primary, but now we have John McCain as well.

Given the uproar the NRSC’s involvement with her campaign has already caused among the base, one would think it wise not to exacerbate the problem by bringing into the picture a man perceived by many in the base as a milquetoasty “bipartisan” RINO and a symbol of the GOP ”Old Guard” and “country clubbers” choosing our candidates for us.

“Jane and McCain” – not exactly the best association to make in the minds of voters right out of the gate.
