“Distrust and verify”–Michelle Malkin
For the second time in as many weeks, Democrats have accused health care opponents of politically-motivated crimes–vandalism at the Democratic Party’s state HQ and even a death threat against Rep. John Salazar.
Thanks to intrepid investigations by PPC and others in the blogosphere, we know how the vandalism story turned out.
Now, police in Grand Junction are telling the public that the allegations of an unnamed suspect threatening Rep. Salazar’s life are “unfounded.”
From Lynn Bartels at the Denver Post:
“People who witnessed the interaction between the man who made the complaint and the suspect confirmed they never heard any direct threats made regarding Congressman Salazar,” said Kate Porras, spokeswoman for the Grand Junction police.
“Also, a (Grand Junction police officer) in close proximity when the interaction took place never heard any direct threats made against Salazar by the suspect,” she said.
Asked whether the person filing the report faced any kind of charge, such as filing a false report, Porras said, “Not at this time. We don’t have any information to show the person who filed the report intentionally gave us false information.”
Alleging that someone issued a death threat is a serious issue. The person who was investigated was undoubtedly put through the wringer [--updated, ed.] by local police and possibly Federal agencies.
Kudos to Bartels for covering the story, while the rest of the MSM on the Front Range has gone silent (so far).
So, is this a true “false flag” operation, the work of an agent provacateur, or something else entirely?
The police should seriously consider charging the accuser of filing a false report, especially seeing as not one shred of corroborating evidence turned up during the investigation.
**Note–early reports were heavily favored toward the accuser’s point-of-view, and the speculation was that the person allegedly making the death threats was, in fact, either a rabid anti-Salazar opponent or part of a “false flag” operation attempting to smear Salazar’s Western Slope opponents, just as the suspected vandal was in the Democratic Party HQ debacle (remember, the first two theories in that case were that the vandalism was a result of “hate” as Chairwoman Pat Waak alleged, or a result of an orchestrated effort to smear ObamaCare opponents). Now that the suspect has been cleared of wrongdoing based on “unfounded” charges, could this now be an example of Dems “crying wolf” as is suggested in the comments?

A “false flag” operation would be if a Salazar supporter actually threatened Salazar intending that the threat be blamed on Salazar opponents. When a Salazar supporter falsely claims an opponent has issued a threat then that is something else – “crying wolf” perhaps.

Nice followup.
Now, putting on my pedant’s hat, I think you want to say “put through the wringer” as in an old fashion clothes wringer.

Sounds like some Democrats are trying to start a fire in the ReichStag building. Don’t wonder why some folks see Fascism. Wonder why it is that others are resorting to the methods Fascist’ used!

Or, just another lie, like all the others. When will the general public come to realize that the Democrats have zero credibility?

Cheap, ubiquitous video is what has turned on the government this year and it will never be the same. Now that we can see how our arrogant politicans respond to us via YouTube they are unable to hide their abuses. Across the world the tyranny of the government sponsored press, like in American, is hurting. Covert video cameras are the idea behind my talking about the ‘cam badge’. Change your perspective and realize that government is the one that needs to be watched. A video of this interchange would probably have resulted in someone being arrested.

“Also, a (Grand Junction police officer) in close proximity …never heard any direct threats…,”
The police acted stupidly again. They are always there when you don’t want them to be.

It’s fun to laugh at the failed attempts to frame the Republicans, but sooner or later they’ll succeed. Al-Qaeda was given unlimited second chances to attack the US, and eventually they went from the epic fail of the 1993 WTC attack to 9-11.

RE: Follow-Up Investigation
Someone should look into the accuser and see what affiliations he/she has with the Democrats or ‘progressives’.
The results of said investigation could be VERY informative.
If the accuser’s name is known, check it with the Colorado Secretary of State’s Elections Division for political donations.

At some point, they’ll stage actual violence against their own. I read of an E-German spy pulling this off in W-Germany (killing a protester that actually supported the Communists) to sway public opinion.

I try to stay neutral in accusations, but the history of the modern Democratic Party is to allege that opponents are doing dirty deeds, so it is difficult to believe Democrats. I remember just this simple tactic whenever I hear accusations: If a Republican calls for a 10 percent increase in a program and the Democrats want a 15 percent increase, the Republican is accused for cutting the budget for the program. Yes, the Democrats have cried Wolf just too many times in my lifetime and I am 64..

Great job turning up this info. If we can continue to report that which the MSM refuses to cover, eventually, they will see that they have discredited themselves. As it is, the MSM is beginning to get the idea, especially as the Obama regime has begun turning on them. Obama’s contempt for the press has always been there, the MSM has merely ignored it.
