Don’t Tape Me Bro! Coffman Town Hall–ObamaCare Supporter Hits Camera

Instalanche! Thanks Glenn!

“He’s Not My Doctor!”

On video (the confrontation starts about 1:00 in):

The ObamaCare supporter was not pleased that she was being filmed, and after accusing me of “setting her up,” she proceeded to move towards me, and then slammed the viewfinder of the camera.

Tolerance.

Following the encounter, I requested that a Littleton Police officer inform the protester that because she was on public property, she must tolerate the possibility of being recorded without her consent (she has no right to ask not to be taped). By having the video, the LEO was able to make a determination at the scene that the event had occurred as I described it. Of course, there was no point to pursuing any other remedy.

ObamaCare protesters need to know that other people have rights too–including their persons and property not to be touched, bumped, slammed, or hit.

Fellow PPCer Wesley captured the ObamaCare health reform astroturfing, including the new SEIU “look more grassroots” directive:

* If you plan on staying outside the building (or have to because the venue becomes full), please make and bring a sign. The anti-reform signs are homemade and look like they are real constituents (some of them are constituents, but some are paid to be there). Positive educational signs work best, rather than sarcastic ones or nasty ones. Their “facts” are based in complete Fox-news style ignorance. Remember WE are the sane, educated side. These rallies are photographed and the media will print or publish great signs.

Dirty laundry–homemade but still pre-fabricated.

Meanwhile, inside the Arapahoe County administrative building, Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) held four consecutive town halls to accommodate the overwhelming but decidedly even-keeled crowd.

Nifty 90-second health reform video from the Independence Institute on Oregon’s rationed health care, and the implications of extending that in ObamaCare:

Even more videos, inside and outside the town hall.

Um, that woman did not touch the camera in the video you posted. Are you just hyping up otherwise un-eventful footage?

    I can’t see a touch, much less a “hit.”

Wow, all the signs are in the same handwriting. What’s that guy getting paid?

If you had footage of her hitting the camera, or even if you just had witnesses, why on earth didn’t you press assault charges on the old cow???

Something happened. Whether it was hit or not is not clear, but something caused the camera to dip down.

That\’s about as tame as it gets. I don\’t see where she slammed anything. Have you got some other video showing her doing something other than complaining?

Let\’s not get out of sorts here.

Her flipping the LCD shut turned the camera off, as I understand it. That’s why the video dips and then skips ahead a few seconds in realtime – it was shut off, and then turned back on.

Obviously, this has gotten under the skin of the collectivists. Good thing she didn’t hit you, EP – they’d probably be arguing that it was really your Dr. Strangelove hand which gave you a black eye.

Didn’t look like she did much more than ask you to stop, which she is allowed to do. Why are you making such a big deal about it? Why not address the substance of the protesters, both sides?

How about getting the pro-collectivization activists to take your advice, peromy?

I sure see a lot of phony allegations coming from the Obama camp and its cult followers about how the opposition is manufactured and paid for by insurance companies, and how it’s all motivated by racism against Obama himself, etc. They’re afraid of having a real debate (as evidenced by the attempt to ram the bill through as quickly as possible) and now are trying to diminish and deflect the opposition instead of engaging via facts and principles. It’s all “Don’t listen to them! They’re violent angry racist crazies!” instead of substantive arguments. (And no, repeating big lie talking points doesn’t count as substantive arguments.)

I happened to be standing with her in the video. She was NOT an ObamaCare supporter, she was a staunch Republican. All she did was shut the flap of your camera with her right index finger. You were in her face, two inches from her face. Public property or not, you were trying to get a reaction out of her. My son, who is also in the video, said if you had been in his face the way you were in hers, he would have smashed your camera.

Staunch Republican (or not), your misrepresentation of the facts is astounding. Not only did I not approach her–which is clearly in evidence in the video–she got in my face, and has no right to touch any part of my person or my camera, which is why the law enforcement officer spoke to her. I have every right to tape anyone I choose in a public place, so the law is clearly not on her or your side.

And had your son so much as breathed on my camera, I would have had him arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

If your reading comprehension is anything, you might try taking a look at this site to see which side we’re on.
