Bitter Medicine

We’ve just gotten back the ArapaHOPE event – a rally for socialized medicine. Our very own Steve T. headed down to the West Steps to record the day in image and interview – which made him the only one who understood why he was there.
The sparse crowd was a aging, poorly dressed echo of James Dean. ‘What are you protesting? What have you got?’
They are certain that healthcare can be run with no one involved in it making a cent, and that this will not dis-incentivize medical school applications or extinguish research.
They dream of a world where there are no co-pays and no one ever does without anything.
And, going by their waist lines, they are no fans of preventative health measures.
Asked how they intend to pay for this, they went off on those long-winded tangents that make one think of James Joyce writing policy.
Inevitably, they descended into the dog’s dinner of jabs at capitalism, private industry, and the Man.
We at PPC don’t know who exactly the Man is, but he seems to be unapologetically free market, fabulously wealthy, and very well-connected. So, Mr. Man – if you see this, the ladies of PPC would love to hear from you.
For the rest of you, please enjoy Steve T’s photographic sojourn into the Heart of Darkness, which looks like it may need a valve replaced.

No sooner were we on the scene than we realized we were dealing with no ordinary protesters. These little lambs expected a politician to keep a campaign promise.

We asked this one, a faun, how it was possible to share the risk of everyone's lifestyle and if that meant we needed to buy enough blow for the entire human race to come over on Saturday. She ran away into the brush.

Here, we observe a well-noted feature of the moonbat - the habit of ignoring a glorious, sun-dappled morning to sit by a pail of refuse and pout.

Matriarchs of two packs meet for the first time and inspect each other's plumage while a third elder reacts to a noise.

Here they imitate one of the evil gods of their religion, the fearsome White Male, a creature who is loathed for his habit of earning a profit.

The women-folk performed tribal chants. PPC does have footage with sound, but it only recommended for those who do not have any inner-ear imbalances or history of seizure disorders.

The northerly environs of Canada are something of a mythical fantasyland for the herd, though the source of their beliefs is not known.
