Denver Tea Party Protest – Prelim Report

**Update–video of the entire Denver Tea Party coming soon . . .
As Tea Parties were happening all over the country, Denver joined in the fun.

Preliminary report on the Denver Tea Party Protest: It was freaking huge! It was significantly larger than any tax-loving, leftist, progressive protest I’ve personally covered. And the people at this one actually have jobs! I’d estimate the crowd at 1000+, but a buddy with a different vantage point than me said he guessed 2000+.
–UPDATE—
Ben Degrow of Mount Virtus notes the Denver Post estimates the attendance at 5000+.
Either way, here are some prelim pics. More pics and full coverage video of the speakers to come from other comrades here at People’s Press Collective.
Here’s the crowd:

Stage left

Center stage

Stage right.
And here’s the cache from a riot cam at the top of the stage – trying to give perspective for the crowd size. (choppiness was my fault for not verifying quality settings before hitting record)
The homemade signs were great. Here’s a small sample (lots more to come from other People’s Press Collective Citizen Journalists).

Heh. Ain’t that the truth?

Yeah, you’ve got Crappy Representation. I hope you remember this when you go to the ballot box in less than 20 months.

That’s definitely part of the problem as we approach a citizen population where the number of people who don’t pay income tax is creeping toward 51%.

Costumes were more common that I expected. This guy may have missed the Revolutionary War dress code, but he was still out to show his enthusiasm for freedom and liberty.

There were even some Fawkesians who showed up. Rememeber, remember…
Stay tuned folks, there’s lots more to come!

As some of you know, and as some of you do not, CPAC (the Conservative Political Action Committee) is happening this year (as it does every year) in Washington, D.C. (as it does every year). Your Washington Bureau Chief along with PPC’s roving special reporter (code name: J-Dubs), will be covering it all. If you’re considering [...]

Don’t sell it short: Even the Denver Post says “more than 5,000″ showed up …

That’s not even 10% of the May Day Marches.
Where were all these people the last 8 years by the way?
This wouldn’t have anything to do with an African American President, would it?

Why is it only the other side that interjects race into it? The last eight years were no cakewalk and grumbling could be heard in the ranks regarding some of the policies of the Bush Administration. But due to the actions of our government in the last couple months we have reached our boiling point. Yes, we should have acted sooner and yes many of us were complacent. But now we are finally awakening to reality. Our government has become Leviathan and we’ve come to take it back.

I agree with Cheryl, it’s always the other side that interjects race into any complaint about the present admninistration. I was at the Colorado Springs Tea Party and one of the speakers was Ed Jones, a black American man, yes not an African American but in his words an American. But then he also said the other side calls him an Uncle Tom or an Oreo. But we’re the racists. Maybe one reason Denver only had 10% of the May Day Marches was that most people still had to work yesterday to pay those taxes. Those of us blessed enough to be able to be there were the voices for them as well. The May Day Marches are mostly made up of illegals who can take off from work whenever they want cause they don’t have a tax burden to pay.
