The Independence Institute, Colorado’s only free market think tank, will be hosting an event on Wednesday, April 8th from 5:30-7pm entitled “Cutting Through the Rhetoric of the Obama Administration’s “Green” Policies.” Their guest speaker will be Terry Anderson, Executive Director of the Property & Environment Research Center (PERC).
Mr. Anderson’s work has helped launch the idea of free market environmentalism. He makes the point that government subsidies often degrade the environment, while private property rights encourage resource stewardship by harnessing market incentives to individual initiative for protecting environmental quality.
During this event, Mr. Anderson will examine the Obama administration’s environmental policies, specifically exploring whether those policies are really “green”, as well as the implications of the cap-and-trade proposal and the global warming debate among other things. If you would like more information, or would like to RSVP for the event, please visit the Indepenence Institute’s event page.
