Ryan Frazier: Next Generation of Conservative Leadership?

by wesley | 8:44 pm, March 21, 2009 | 5 Comments

Politico.com had an article discussing the three potential GOP candidates seriously considering the 2010 bid for Colorado Senator.  The article discusses some of the opportunities and challenges each potential candidate would face in the primary race.  It juxtaposed the established former Congressman with a long resume of political offices to the young “fresh face” City Councilman who’s looking to restore liberty.

I think there may be a remote chance that Republicans in Colorado are beginning to realize that winning back the state from the tax-raising Leftist Democrats is going to require allowing the Next Generation of Conservatives to step up and lead.  Just today the Colorado GOP elected Leondray Gholston as the Vice Chair of the State Party, which shows that the Colorado Republicans are looking at new strategies as the 2010 election approaches.  Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier, one of the potentials seriously considering a run for Colorado’s Junior Senate Seat, is another rising star for the conservatives.  In the Politico article, when asked about deciding whether to run, Frazier noted:

“For me, it’s going to come down to whether this state is ready for a different direction to embrace a new generation of Republican leadership,” said Frazier. “In many ways, I would be a very untraditional candidate for this office. But in order to move the state forward, it’s going to take new ideas — and I think I have a lot to offer.”

Fresh blood.  Fresh leadership.  It’s time to let the Next Generation of Conservative Leadership rise to the occasion.

Great. Too bad the Colorado GOP “Old Guard” is going to stiffarm anyone who runs against Both-Ways Bob Beauprez.

Bob’s like McCain – just running because it’s “his turn” and not because he has any ideas. He just wants another bullet point for his resume.

Frazier has new ideas. But how will that help when ColoGOP is about pull and connections and the old-boy network? Beauprez will get his rigged nomination, pander to the social cons while alienating everyone else, and lose. Again.

Oh, and I don’t even know WHY he’s called “Both-Ways Bob”. But I know he’s called that. What does that say about any “name-recognition advantage” Beauprez might claim to have?

Tidwell -Quality Candidate for a New Voice IN Colorado Politics – I really like him

I find it interested that anyone thinks the GOP would even consider Mr Breauprez for anything. We need a top level person to run that can win. It will require someone with much experience and business experience that can fight with the best of them.

I have heard speeches from one or two that sound like Obama and simply turn me off. Suppose that’s just lack of experience and trying to win us over with fancy talk. And another lawyer we sure don’t need. Please spare us the time. Breauprez is simmply trying to sell his book and that’s a good place for him.

I did hear Mr. Tidwell at the Michael Steel night and he seems very qualified and even over qualified. How did we get him? Must have been one of Dick Wadhams secret finds. He did good again.

So if the GOP can get Mr Tidwell to run for Senate I believe we have our candidate and one that could take Mr. Bennett down.

I spoke with my county delegate Chairman and he felt the same that Tidwell was the only real choice and they were excited for a change. They liked the fact that he was not loud, an excellent listerner and gets to the point and gives you a lot of time when he speaks with you. Been a while since I have seen that in someone running for office.

So I do believe a new voice in Colorado Politcs is here and Mr. Tidwell seems to be the one to beat. Nice to see someone come out early and we can have excitment for a while and out Bennett back in the school system where he belongs.

Tidwell? Are you serious? It’s hard to imagine anyone less inspiring – listening to him is a sure cure for sleeplessness. There’s not enough caffeine in the world for him to get any excitement going…
