Federal Government Bureaucrats Misplace Two Forklifts

I finally get it. We need a “Stimulus” Package for increased government spending because incompetent government bureaucrats keep losing their toys. Now I might be able to understand if they lost a $200 hammer or a $500 toilet seat. But Homeland Security lost not one, but two forklifts?!?!

Seriously. Show of hands: who still thinks the Federal Government can be trusted with your tax dollars? Forklifts don’t just accidentally fall into a bureaucrat’s lunch pail as he’s getting ready to head home from the federal office for the evening.
This is your tax dollars at work, folks. Homeland Security Bureaucrats “lost” or “misplaced” $7 million worth of equipment including, but not limited to:
- 171 Computers (desktops, not notebooks)
- 5 Cisco “switchers” with 192 ethernet ports, valued at $31,000 apiece
- 28 motion picture cameras, one of which was valued at $37,000 dollars
- 65 still picture cameras
- 2 forklifts purchased at over $8,000 apiece
- 119 laptop computers
- 145 items dealing with “night vision,” at a total cost of more than $500,000 (and I bet they’re the nice Gen IV optics, too)

“You have to look at this list with your own eyes to get the full impact of what’s going on in this federal agency,” says Jon Caldara, President of the Independence Institute. “It’s not enough to simply say that $7 million of equipment went missing in a year. Once you start to see the same items disappearing over and over again, that’s when it really hits you that there is some incredible waste and possible insider theft going on.”
Here’s some fun homework. Can anyone tell me how many Billions of dollars Homeland Security received from the Federal Government’s “Stimulus” package?
If these government bureaucrats aren’t capable of acting like responsible adults, then it’s time we start treating them like 7 year-old children. If dad and mom rush out to buy them new expensive toys every time they “lose” their current ones,
we’re just rewarding irresponsibility. And as everyone knows, well at least the adults know, rewarded behavior gets repeated.

Man – we could have used some of those nice video toys they “lost”, back when we were covering the DNC.
