Colorado 2010 US Senate Race Update: Ryan Frazier’s Ascent

**Update--Buzz from Douglas County Lincoln Day dinner indicates that Frazier won the night's straw poll--exact numbers to follow this evening. From Chris Cillizza's "The Fix" at the Washington Post:
9. Colorado (D): Appointed Sen. Michael Bennet has made a solid debut so far although his wishy-washiness on the Employee Free Choice Act has turned him into something of public punching bag on the right and the left. Bennet, a virtual unknown before he was named to replace Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, is clearly vulnerable in 2010. But, there doesn't appear to be a serious primary challenge in the offing (does former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff really want to risk his "rising star" status on a race against a sitting senator?) and the Republican field has been slow to take shape. The most likely GOP candidate seems to be former Rep. Bob Beauprez but his disastrous 2006 run for governor raises questions about his political strength. Some within the GOP are excited about the possible candidacy of Ryan Frazier, a 31-year old African American member of the Aurora City Council. (Previous ranking: 10)The seat could quickly become a real toss-up as Frazier's visibility within the party increases. GOP grassroots activists, many of whom supported Leondray Gholston's successful vice chair candidacy at the state level (Gholston served as Frazier's reelection campaign manager), have identified Frazier as a strong contender for the GOP's 2010 U.S. Senate nomination. They believe that Frazier carries none of the negatives of the other potential candidates whose names have been bandied about for the seat, and argue that he has a greater potential for reestablishing and mobilizing a "big tent" for conservatives/GOP/libertarians in the state. His main task will be in establishing brand awareness across Colorado in the coming months, along with building a sufficient campaign war chest to tackle a contested primary and Sen. Bennet in 2010.
SP has been tracking Frazier's potential candidacy for months.

the primary will certainly be contested… Who knows if Caplis is serious but both Buck and Cleve Tidwell are making their rounds and building networks. Rumor has it that Mr. Tidwell is already connected to many big money donors in the state and nation-wide, including some major national organizations. Yep, this will be one helluva primary

What the hell is wrong with you Tidwell supporters? I make a negative comment about “Cleve” so you idiots go around appropriating my pseudonym to talk about how great he is? If anyone wants to see my real opinion of Cleve, here it is:

Who the hell are you kidding with this? I’m guessing you decided to steal my username to run around promoting Cleve Tidwell because you didn’t have any real response to my pointing out Cleve’s work with AIG.

To Scarlet Letter: it might be useful for you to talk to Mr. Tidwell before you ‘blast’ him for his past. Yes, he did in fact perform a one year upper level management contract as a consultant for AIG. He did so in Japan many years ago, and helped Japan become one of the most successful markets for AIG. He left after a year. He also performed consulting work as a management consultant for Canon, Fuji, Ford motor co., and more- why don’t you mention those companies when you are trying to ‘point out’ Cleve’s business experience? He has an extensive background and none of it is covered in the slime surrounding AIG now.
Scarlet Letter, who do you work for? Are you being paid by Colorado Media Matters to cause dissent and divide in the Republican Party? You sure don’t act like a Republican. And if you really are a Republican then geez, with friends like you, who needs enemies?
I nominate Scarlet Letter to run Michael Bennet’s campaign since he seems so set on disrupting the productive efforts of viable Republican candidates and the efforts of GOP supporters. For Shame.

You think Cleve Tidwell is a viable candidate? Please.
Maybe he and Dan Maes can team up on a ticket and take the state by storm!

hmm…these forums are quickly going downhill…
Tidwell probably has just a good a chance as anyone… they’re all relatively unknown, except in the blogosphere, which is read really just by us blogosphere folks.
April 11th, 2009 @ 12:51 pm
Just keep telling yourself that.

Well, you know, “take it to the top”, it doesn’t help the quality of the forums when commenters post under multiple names and bicker with their multiple personas.
Stick to one identity.

Ryan Frazier 2010.
Oddly enough the whole point of the article was to announce Ryan as a candidate (yet to be announced officially). Why are you arguing over Tidwell’s credentials here? Ryan Frazier isn’t even mentioned in your banter.
I will optimistically believe that it is because no one here actually has any negative or controversial information on the man. Which is one more point in his favor.
again,
Ryan Frazier 2010.
