Don't be too quick to write off the likes of Frazier. He spoke at the El Paso County GOP organizational meeting earlier this month, a room full of elites, old guard and party hacks, and really stired up some excitement. If he can walk the talk, he will get the support of the largest GOP county party in the state.

cheers

Travis, I hope your analysis is wrong....but that's just my hope. Realistically, it's probably a few hairs away from the bullseye.

Winning should be the bottom line, but the "Dole" template does loom large. You'd think Repubs would now be eager to take a lesson from the Dems, where by ignoring the "paid his dues" style of thinking, the party (barely) pushed aside Clinton in favor of the man now in the oval office.

Flocking to Beauprez out of a sense of loyalty? I don't see the public doing that, and if the GOP elites do it it won't be out of loyalty so much as cliquishness.

Frazier is going to be shunted aside by Wadhams and the old-guard cronies in favor of Beauprez or some other washed-up GOP failure. It's the Bob Dole nomination all over again - "it's his turn (to fail) (again)". Frazier hasn't done his time, paid his dues, kissed all the right rings and licked all the right boots to become a major candidate. He's an outsider. He won't get any party support or resources. Never mind how much he fires up younger GOP voters, never mind that his philosophy is libertarian enough for independents to support, no, they'll pick some hack with the right connections and shove him down our throats in an orchestrated "primary" (if they don't force the other contenders out before the primary comes around). Just like the state party did with Coors in 2004, and just like the national party did with McCain last year. It's all about patronage and pull, and not at all about statesmanship.
