For Wine Lovers With a Social Conscience

The Biggie Wine & Liquors store in Conifer, Colorado has just lost my business:

It’s bad enough that they carry a wine labeled with the iconic image of a psychotic mass murderer like Che Guevara. They make it worse by choosing to prominently display this display of astonishing bad taste (much of the end cap to the left was devoted to “Chevere”). And they choose to further compound the offense through snob appeal to “wine lovers with a social conscience”.
One has to wonder if the winery in question will eventually produce an “Eichmann white”, and market it to “wine lovers who value the purity of unmixed varietals”. It’d make about as much sense.
ADDENDUM: A little Googling turns up the website for the producer, Laurel Glen Vineyards, and an announcement on the Lambi Fund website which appears to be the source of the text in the Biggie display.
Is it just me, or is it ironic that a luxury goods entrepreneur should be a fan of a stalinist psychopath, and should use that stalinist psychopath’s name and image to raise funds for an organization that promotes small-scale entrepreneurialism? It’s about as jarring as an Objectivist getting “stimulus” money to distribute copies of Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.

I encourage all to join the “Che Guevara was a murderer and your t-shirt is not cool” group on Facebook.
And remember that real rebels don’t support centralized state authority. Real rebels kick centralized state authority in the ass.
