Between pigs and human beings there was not, and there need not be, any clash of interests whatever. Their struggles and their difficulties were one. Was not the labour problem the same everywhere? …The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
