There were more than 200 eager volunteers at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds tonight in preparation for tomorrow morning’s visit by Governor Sarah Palin.  Volunteers were divided up into different teams: parking, ticket taking, and ushers.

The enthusiasm was palpable at tonight’s volunteer meeting!  Volunteers will be at the fairgrounds by 6 a.m. to enter after the Secret Service has completed their sweep of the facility.  Doors open at 7 a.m. and the pre-rally program begins at 8 a.m.  Gov. Palin speaks at 9 a.m.

The attached photo is from a young couple from Anchorage, Alaska; here in Denver to have their special needs baby.  The mother, Megan, said a few weeks ago she spoke with Gov. Palin about special needs babies for about ten minutes.  They are so excited about her that they’re now volunteers for this rally!  Megan will deliver their special needs son and then he will be cared for at Denver’s Children’s Hospital.  Megan had a little blue baby outfit that said, “My mom is voting for Trig’s mom!” and both Megan and her husband were proudly wearing their Palin t-shirts, which they had ordered on the Internet.

Another group of volunteers are in the Denver area for three days on vacation and just happened to hear about the rally.  Being big fans of Gov. Palin, they’re now spending part of their vacation time volunteering for the rally.

McCain staff members said they’d printed and distributed 3,000 rally tickets by noon last Friday.  They then changed the event from a pancake breakfast to a rally so that more people could attend and printed another 3,000 tickets which were gone by 5:00.  In addition, many people are expected to show up in the hopes of getting tickets at the last minute.
